Student Planners have finally arrived!!  The students will begin using their new assignment notebooks on Monday.  Look for them in backpacks every night.  We will write assignments in them each day.  No need to sign or initial them.  It's a tool for the kids to keep organized and remind them of important events.

Reading - Our focus this week will be on collecting research and learning about text features.  Students will be researching either hippos or the Aldabra Tortoise (both characters in Owen and Mzee).  We'll discuss author's message and relate it to the essential question, "How can stories help us learn life lessons?"

We will focus on shared research.  The students will find important information from both a text and digital source and put those facts into an expository paragraph.

Grammar focus will be on verbs.

Reading Logs are due on Monday, October 2.  Our class voted to have a Stuffed Animal Day for everyone who returns a completed log.  We'll decide on a day next week.  Please do not send a stuffed animal on Monday...

Math - We will be counting and looking for patterns within 1,000 this week, then take a chapter test midweek.  Our next chapter, Numbers to 1,000, will focus on place value of numbers to 1,000.

THANK YOU to our PTO for the wonderful Bucket Filler Assembly this week!  We are officially a Bucket Filling School!  You'll be hearing more about this in the coming days.  Ask your child if they have helped fill a bucket today!
